Game 5

A hard game was anticipated and from the start it became obvious that this would be the case. Porthcawl whites took the intiative with some neat passing moves and strong tackling. On the rare opportunities that Porthcawl Blues attacked they were confronted with a well drilled defence. Matthew Parker in goals soon became under a lot of pressure from the Whites attacks but more than matched everything thrown at him.
Unfortunately a goalkeepers lot is one mistake costs a goal and this proved to be the case as the Whites went one up as a result of an error.
Although under a lot of pressure the Blues kept their shape well and competed for every ball with the defence being marshalled well by James Phillips.Recovering from an earlier error Matthew Parker now showed why he is possibly one of the best keepers around with a string of top quality saves and was only to be beaten by a penalty during this first half.
Half Time Portcawl Blues 0 Porthcawl Whites 2

The second half continued much the same as the first with Porthcawl Whites having the majority of possession, but the big difference was that the Whites were now counter attacking well and asking qustions of the Whites defence with Dan Smith now causing problems. Kieran Cunnigham went close with a hard hit drive and a Dan Smith long range effort just sailed over the bar with the whites keeper well beaten. Further gaols by the Whites put the game beyond the blues as they went a futher 4 goals up.
During the second half outstanding saves from Matthew Parker kept the score at bay
with a well saved penalty and a spectacular diving save highlighting a terrific goalkeeping display.

Final Score Porthcawl Blues 0 Porthcawl Whites 6
